The Office Tower project was part of a series of three tower buildings for a Toronto client — two residential and one office. Catering to the demanding thermal performance requirements of Canadian winters, GUTMANN proposed an updated version of their Unitised Curtain Wall system that complied with all specified performance criteria. As the architect of the team, the role covered gathering technical data, producing the renderings, details, and analysis presented to the client.
The proposal was structured as a complete, self-contained client document — designed to be read without any one-on-one presentation, a direct response to the constraints of the pandemic period. Text and detailed explanations were built into the proposal itself, making it fully independent.
As part of the proposed package, sample details of a partial wall section were submitted alongside compliance sheets cross-referencing the project specifications against the GUTMANN system's published performance data. The wall section details call out every component by GUTMANN part number — from EPDM gaskets and aluminium profiles to PVC glazing frames and rebate gaskets — giving the client a complete material and assembly picture.
Proposal presentations were built around 3D renderings and installation instructions that describe how the system will be manufactured and installed. 3D line drawings with installation guidelines accompany visual renders showing different iterations of finishes, colours, accessories, and hardware — allowing the client to assess the visual outcome alongside the technical one.
The installation procedure illustrates the step-by-step process for mounting the GUTMANN Unitised Curtain Wall panels on site — from the first spandrel panel fixed to the slab mounted bracket, through sequential panel alignment using the female/male mullion system, to the final sealant application and gutter cover installation. Each step is diagrammed with accompanying text to give site teams full clarity before construction begins.
